We're singing in the rain, just singing in the rain, what a glorious feeling, I'm happy again.....

Kids come up with the funniest names....this is "Uncle Crunchy" as H has dubbed him. I call him Uncle Crusty and pretend like I just can't quite remember his new moniker.

We went to Barcis, which is a short drive from home. I didn't take too many lake pics as we have been there before. Barcis is that lake that is REALLY blue, kind of in a bizarre way. There may be more photos on Aunt D's camera, which is currently with her on her travels.
That could be part of my lack of posting excuse, no, really, it could. The weather has been a bit rainy lately. We packed our lunch and set out anyway. After a short walk around the lake, we sat down to have our picnic.

The rain came down. We were under a pine tree and I was getting outright wet. My Man kept insisting that it would "let up."

All the while, there was a perfectly good TENT- the kind that covers you, but is open on 4 sides...not too far away.

I did realize that we had just sat down AND that it wouldn't be fun to move, but it was raining, and did I mention I was getting wet? I insisted that we move- I swear I got an eye roll, but he contends I did not. We moved and the rain did not let up for a LONG time! It was still pretty and, nice and dry, we had fun!

Our theory about how Fonzie won't run away in the rain is completely out the window. We were under the tent and he took off to go be with Uncle Crunchy at the outhouse : )

What fun to be having a picnic and moisturizing at the same time! Uncle crusty looks right at home with the Fonz. Little engines are quite happy with the outing and sharing fun with Nanny! As for your Man's eyebrow raise...hmmmm...no soup for you!
It's great to hear about the good times--what a blast. The pictures are wonderful--keep them coming--always enjoy seeing what you're up to. The little engines are precious!!

Have a Very Merry Un-birthday to you, to you....

The tallest of the small is 6.5 years old. We had the usual half-birthday fun. At school, on her half-birthday, one of her friends told her that half birthdays aren't real. She mentioned this to me when she got off the bus. Then she asked me if half birthdays are "real." Hmmmmm. "What do you think?" I asked her (love that parenting technique). Well, she explained that lots of people don't celebrate their half birthdays, most people probably. But since we do, they are real for us. Sounds good to me : ) You get to celebrate their lives twice as many times- how can I resist, besides, it involves CAKE people! Happy half-birthday!
One afternoon, we decided to go into Pordenone to walk around and check out the city, perhaps to have a tasty cappuccino. Sounds fairly simple....we set off in the morning and all went well until we got into the city. Driving here is like playing a video game, only if you hit a pedestrian, you are going to Italian jail for life. There are people walking, people riding bicycles, dogs running, cars, motor scooters, taxis, and buses with which to contend, not to mention one-way streets and the penchant for Italians to post 10 signs when we Yanks would only post one- maybe two if it were a really scary situation. No small task- also, there are usually two small folks in the seat behind me saying, "mama?" over and over again. Now you would think that Juney and I would have our Navigator/Co-pilot roles fairly well ironed out by now. That is also not quite the case- shall we say we need more practice with our roles? I think that would be fair, Nanny, no? I think this might be the on...
